I have had the idea for a few years now of creating a series of informative videos on the subject of fisting. Not porn, and not even particularly action-focused stuff, but genuinely informative, instructional videos that beginners and maybe even relatively advanced players can learn from. Part of this idea relates to the subject I spoke about in my last post: my distaste for the stigma around fisting within the gay community. One of the goals would be to demystify the subject, and demonstrate that it is not as extreme, as exclusive or as exotic as people think.

Seriously one of my favourite t-shirts

I have spoken about this idea on Recon, Fetlife, and other such sites, but I have not made much progress on this. It has been hard to find people who understand the idea behind this. Most of the people who express interest are either exhibitionists or aspiring porn models. Nothing wrong with either of those, but it’s obviously not what I’m looking for here. Part of what I want to show is that you do not need to a porn star to get into fisting. Similarly, exhibitionists (and many fisting bottoms are) are interested in showing off how deep/hard/wide they can take it, rather than how they got to that point. In addition, some of the “models” think of this as potential money-maker, which is really not my goal. Besides, I certainly don’t consider myself model material!

Another sticking point is that I would, in an ideal world, want to do this with people willing to show their faces on camera, and even to actually talk about their experience with fisting, give advice, deconstruct the process with me. Imagine it, if you can, as a reality show – switching between action and that Big Brother chair situation, where the protagonist comments on their own performance. I could compromise for a hood/mask, or for digitally obscuring the face, but then that kind of defeats one of the main purposes of doing this – fighting the prejudice against fisting. Of course people with recognisable tattoos are also out – a real pity!

Having said that these aren’t the only obstacles. I have no experience with video production – filming, editing, or whatever else you need to do! – or really thought very much about how it would be shared or hosted. (My idea was to start it on xtube for now). I don’t really want to invest much money into this, since I don’t expect to make money out of it either, so I’d like to learn to do most of it by myself. So even if the right “subject(s)” came along, I don’t know how ready I am to move on with this.

On the other hand maybe I’m making this more complicated than it needs to be. People post fisting videos on xtube every couple of minutes. I’ve made a few myself but it was very spontaneous and not very high quality stuff, and certainly not instructional or informative. Perhaps I’m letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, though, and I should start doing this with the limitations at hand – no faces, no direct camera address – and hopefully grow from  there? Just add a voice-over myself for the instructional part?

What do you think? Have you had any experience producing and sharing video content online? Is there anything you would expect or you would like to see from such a series? I would love to get some feedback as I continue to think about this.
